Let’s imagine that after shopping at Wal-Mart you approached the check-out counters only to be stopped by a “Wal-Mart Central Officer of Customer Checkout Allocation” or some other nonsensical, bureaucratic title. He points and directs people to where he thinks they ought to stand in line according to his judgment. Of course, if Wal-Mart actually did institute such a program, you would probably find it odd, if not a bit outraged. Ironically, we often readily accept such an arrangement already: the TSA has an equivalent system for allocating passengers as …
For students pursuing higher education, senior year of high school can be quite a stressful period of time. The difficulty comes not only from those countless hours spent embelishing one’s resume and desperately attempting to craft an original statement, but also from choosing the right school to enroll. And one of the basic choices a student faces is whether to attend a big university or one of the 228 liberal arts institutions that comprise roughly 15% of all institutions of higher education in the United States. It is a question …

This Athens, Georgia band’s 11th studio album is just as odd as the first ten. However, odd does not mean bad as the album bounces from tracks with heavy trance influences to more familiar indie pop sounds. The album kicks off with “Gelid Ascent” a trippy space-age jam that draws the listener in with its synth sound which then builds to a break and that is where the vocals and drums come in. Every song on the album seems to draw from different sources and influences …
On February 18th the Hampden-Sydney lacrosse team traveled north to face the Eagles of Mary Washington College. The game started with a quick Mary Washington goal at the 2:31 mark, followed by another Eagle goal with 8:22 remaining in the quarter. The Tigers then tied the score on a Ben Clarke tally with a mere 14 seconds remaining in the first.
The Tiger offense went ice cold after the first …
