While most Tigers were scattered throughout the country and beyond for Spring Break, the Lax Tigers stayed close to home. Coming off of back-to-back losses to nationally ranked Gettysburg and Carbini, Hampden-Sydney needed to gain some confidence heading into conference play and they did just that. The first Saturday of Spring Break the team headed up to the nation’s capital to take on Marymount. The game was tied 5-5 in the third quarter but the Tigers quickly put their opponents away. Senior captain Kyle Jett led the way with 4 goals as the Hampden-Sydney dropped the Saints 14-8.

After a late bus trip back to the Hill, the team got Sunday off before getting ready to travel to the Eastern Shore to take on Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. The Tigers dominated from the start, breaking out to an early 6-1 lead before an eventual 17-8 win. Jett turned in another impressive game, this time tallying 7 points on 3 goals and 4 assists.

For the final contest of break the Tigers hosted a game against Elizabethtown College and capped their undefeated Spring Break with a 13-6 victory. This time it was sophomore Micah Keller who led the way on offense with 4 goals and an assist.

Senior midfielder Andrew O’Shea feels very confident in the team heading into a huge ODAC matchup vs. Roanoke this Saturday. O’Shea heads into the Roanoke game “happy with the way that [the Tigers] were able to play well and establish team unity heading into our competitive ODAC schedule.” While various players lit up the scoreboard in the three games over break, one player in particular stuck out to O’Shea. Senior

defenseman Daniel Martin “has really stepped up his game and been the backbone of our defense. He brings intensity and focus, and I think that the whole team has been able to rally around his play.”

That intensity will be essential this Saturday as the Tigers host #8 Roanoke. The Maroons are fresh off a loss to #10 Dickinson and will be coming in looking to prove their ranking. Saturday is supposed to be a gorgeous, warm day so let’s get out there and have the fans match the intensity of the team. Go Tigers.
