Tiger Golfers Tie for First at H-SC Invitational

Hampden-Sydney had a solid outing at the Manor Resort on Monday and Tuesday tying for first place in the Hampden-Sydney Invitational. The Tigers tied Christopher Newport and Randolph-Macon with a two-day score of 649 for the first place spot in the 13 team event.

Hampden-Sydney was led by sophomore Ronnie Fultz (Fieldale, VA/Carlisle School) who finished second overall shooting a 154 (76-78). Just ten strokes behind Fultz was Curtis Tomlin (Mechanicsville, VA/Atlee) coming in tenth place individually. Junior Lorcan Duffy (Fermanagh, North Ireland) was just one stroke behind Tomlin shooting a 165 (82-83) for a 13th place finish.

Senior Britt Parnell (Midlothian, VA/Trinity Episcopal) and freshman Sean Gatz (Newport News, VA/Menchville) rounded out the Hampden-Sydney’s ‘A’ team shooting 166 (18th) and 170 (29th) respectively.
Hampden-Sydney’s ‘B’ team, which came in sixth place overall, was led by Chason Trahan (Charlotte, NC/South Mecklenburg) who shot a 166 (87-79). He was followed by Mike Dowd (Richmond, VA/Collegiate) with a 169 (87-82) and Loui Mari (Monkton, MD/St. Paul’s) with a 170 (86-84).

Rounding out the ‘B’ team were Sam Wallace (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) and Eric Rutherford (Charlottesville, VA/Menchville) shooting 177 and 182, respectively.
Virginia Wesleyan’s Trae Kresinske had the top individual finish shooting a 75 and 76 for a 151 overall, helping his team to a fourth place finish.

Hampden-Sydney will return to action on October 2nd-4th as they compete in Randolph-Macon’s Ted Keller Invitational.
